MARYLAND DISTRICT 5 ISSUES
Public Safety
Prioritizing Public Safety and Crime Prevention.
Crime, policing, and public safety are not partisan issues—they affect us all. My top priority as your Representative will be to ensure the safety of District 5 Families by working across party lines to craft evidence-based solutions that eradicates crime yet reduce the number of people in prison.
I will advocate for crime prevention programs that address the root causes of violence, provide essential resources for law enforcement, and secure federal grants to support community safety initiatives.
Additionally, we must take a comprehensive approach to combat drug abuse and the illicit drug trade, which devastates lives and fuels crime. That means investing in mitigation, prevention, treatment, and strict enforcement—expanding funding for drug rehabilitation programs, improving education on substance abuse, and imposing stronger penalties on traffickers.
By working together—lawmakers, law enforcement, and the community—we can build safer neighborhoods and a more secure future for the Fifth District.
